For my independent project I created five digital drawings of three different characters that I created for another project this year. I wanted to originally make seven drawings but the first one that I chose to make took a crazy long time to finish since there were so many details I needed to add. Throughout the project I started getting used to the style I was drawing with and as time went on I enjoyed drawing these more. The first drawing I did killed my motivation and I no longer wanted to continue this project but towards the end and especially the last drawing, I started to like drawing the characters again. In the beginning I was planning on having very detailed lighting and shading but since the drawings were already taking so long and I liked the look of the simplistic base colors I went with that instead. I used light pastel colors and I didn’t outline the characters like I do with most of my art. Instead I just used the colors and a little shading if needed to show the outlines of the characters. With this project I wanted to show how these characters would interact with each other in the fantasy D&D world I imagine them in. The main point around these characters is that they made a family out of nothing. The drawings show them going through their daily lives almost like a slice of life comic without the talking.
