For my project I made a graphic novel/webcomic. The main theme of the story is two kids that get wrapped up in trying to save the world from an evil so dark it would send the universe into the black void. They travel through different dimensions/realm and each time the style changes. The format of the graphic novel is the same as webtoon which is less of the classic graphic novel format and a little more like a comic. I’m not finishing the whole story because I want it to be a series with episodes that I would post on Webtoon, I will put teasers and parts of it on my website and my instagram account.
When I started drawing the graphics at first I was using Adobe Illustrator but I was paying way too much attention to detail and it was taking forever. After I realized I wouldn't be able to get it done on time if I continued at that pace, I switched over to an app called Autodesk SketchBook that I installed on my iPad, I also used my Apple pencil with it. When I switched the software I was working on it went way faster and was way more enjoyable, since it was more similar to using paper instead of a drawing tablet and a monitor. The quality of the characters and some of the backgrounds will also be better with this app. In my opinion it’s easier to use as well.
I decided to create a graphic novel because I always liked making little comics as a kid and I was also getting into digital art and animation. It’s also one of the main reasons I joined VAM academy in the first place. I also love writing stories because I get so deep into the storyline and the characters that it feels like I’m almost in the story myself. That's also one of the reasons I was behind on this project. Making this also made me feel like one of my stories is more professional than just writing one and showing your friends.
